TESOL Conference, Philadelphia                                                           Mar 28-31, 2012     

Four day conference by TESL, world’s largest organization for teachers of English language learners, covering the ELL spectrum in profusion of contexts.

New Practitioner Orientation                                                                  Feb 15th, 2013

Day long conference held by Rhode Island Adult Education Professional Development Center (RIAEPDC). Overview of the web of offices, commissions, boards and organizations related to adult education in Rhode Island, funding procedures and familarity with local programs.

 

PSC113, Introduction to American Politics                                         Sep 2012 – Dec 2012

Semester long political science course taught by Professor Maureen Moakley at URI, audited with A.C.E. students who were fufilling a program requirement. Completed course work required of class and maintained a 97% average on tests and presentations while keeping up-to-date on exciting election year news and current events.

 

Common Core Standards and Adult Education                                  Feb 5th, 2013

RIAEPDC training. Introduced Common Core standards, related standards to currently used WIDA, CASAS, TABE, Lexile and BEST+ levels. Detailed examination of published CCSS Standards in ELA and Mathematics with particular attention to effects on adult learning programs.

 

Udacity/Code Academy                                                                             Dec 2012 – ongoing

Online classes taught by world class unviersity professrs. Introducation to Computer Programming. Familarity with concetps of computer science and basic programming skills in languages: Unix, Python, HTML, and CSS.
